Democrat Haley Stevens Endorses Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan Senate Race

Democratic Representative Haley Stevens has endorsed Republican Mike Rogers in the tightly fought US Senate race in Michigan. The endorsement comes just days before the vote and follows a bitter dispute and high tensions after Stevens lost the Democratic primary nomination to Abdul El-Sayed by a close margin.

Stevens was initially scheduled to attend a unity event with El-Sayed, but instead chose to back his Republican opponent. Following the decision and her refusal to support the Democratic nominee, the El-Sayed campaign disinvited Stevens from events to limit distractions as the election draws to a head.

During her public backing of the Republican candidate, Stevens was heckled by individuals calling her a traitor. Some reports indicate that the public spat has placed deep party tensions directly in the spotlight as voters prepare for the upcoming Senate election.
