G20 Foreign Ministers Cancel Official Photocall Over Russian Envoy Presence
A traditional G20 photocall was cancelled after several European ministers refused to participate. The decision followed objections to the presence of Russia's top diplomat at the summit.
The traditional G20 family photo was cancelled after multiple European foreign ministers refused to take part. The session was called off following objections regarding the presence of Russia's envoy, Sergei Lavrov, at the international gathering.
Reports indicate that the UK's Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband, joined other European counterparts in declining to be pictured alongside the Russian diplomat. Some reports say the US ultimately cancelled the scheduled photocall in response to the ministerial boycotts.
The summit, which brought together key international officials, took place in Atlanta. Officials have not yet announced further details regarding adjustments to the remaining schedule of the summit following the cancelled event.
