Russell Brand Testifies in London Trial and Denies All Charges
Entertainer Russell Brand took the stand at Southwark Crown Court in London to give evidence in his criminal trial. Facing multiple charges including rape and sexual assault, he denied all accusations and stated that the allegations have had a devastating impact on him.
The 51-year-old former comedian and entertainer appeared in court on Wednesday to begin giving evidence at his criminal trial. He faces charges including three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of attempted indecent assault. Called to the stand by his lawyer, Ian Winter, Brand denied all accusations against him.
During his testimony, Brand told the court that he had an obsession with sex as a younger man, but he denied setting himself a specific goal to sleep with 5,000 women. He also maintained that consent was always non-negotiable for him. Furthermore, the defendant revealed that no one agreed to testify on his behalf, stating that his entire life has been consumed by the legal proceedings.
The trial at Southwark Crown Court in London continues as the defense proceeds with presenting evidence and hearing testimony from the accused entertainer.
